During and after the summer, Southwestern Advantage representatives primarily use social media, specifically a Facebook Business Page, to engage with local communities where they work. This includes communication with local law enforcement, city councils, and customers. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on creating, developing, and managing your Facebook Business Page effectively.
CREATING YOUR FACEBOOK BUSINESS PAGE:
This summer, you'll meet thousands of families by knocking on doors, becoming known as the young bookman/bookgirl from Europe
.
Strong PR is key to success, and Facebook helps expand your reach, build trust, and add value to your business. It will be on your business cards, and you'll invite prospects to follow your page.
This powerful tool requires regular updates. Your leaders will guide you, but for now, let’s start by creating your Facebook page!
STEP 1: INITIAL SETUP
LOGIN TO FB
1- Visit Facebook.com/pages
2- Click 'Create a Page'
3- Select 'Local Business'
4- Select 'Education' as your category
5- Set your page as First Name 'The Bookman/Girl' Last Name (Amy 'The Bookgirl' Doe)

STEP 2: CUSTOMIZE AND MAKE YOUR PAGE UNIQUE
Photos and interactive media are essential for making your Facebook page more engaging, especially in the beginning. As the summer progresses, your page will become more active, showcasing customers and their stories. To set a strong foundation, we recommend uploading some initial content right away.
UPLOAD YOUR ID PHOTO AND COVER
Your Facebook Business Page ID photo and cover photo are the first things people notice. Your ID photo should be a clear, professional image of you, making it easy for families to recognize you. The cover photo sets the tone for your page—choose one that reflects your mission, whether it’s an engaging family moment, educational theme, or your Southwestern Advantage journey. A strong visual identity builds trust and credibility!

I’m a Southwestern Advantage representative, helping kids from pre-K to college prep build academic skills and success habits. (WHY DO I DO IT?)
One of the biggest reasons I joined this summer program is to challenge myself—whether it’s stepping out of my comfort zone, developing new skills, experiencing a different culture, improving my English, or gaining hands-on business experience. But more than anything, I believe in what we do.
Our company has created one of the most comprehensive educational systems to support families in their learning journey, and I’m proud to introduce it to every family I meet this summer.

Hey, I had a question, Does the city also have a Facebook page where they make announcements?
OK, cool, do you know who usually manages it?
The reason I'm asking is because of what we did in my previous towns (Springfield City) City Hall sent out a little community awareness post about who I am and what I'm doing. (Show pictures/posts)
I don't mean like a promo or anything, but more the fact that since I have an accent and I go D2D, some people might get suspicious about what I´m doing and start calling in.
So this post worked really well in my previous towns because most people already knew about me upfront, and since they saw that I had a permit/ been to the police station, they felt way safer when I knocked on their door.
Is it fine If I forward you this awareness post about me?

Usually, what we do when we arrive in the new area we introduce ourselves to Police officers to be as transparent as possible. Tag all the customers in the photo bundle - that way it will appear on their timeline too. 5-7 customers in one bundle - that way more likes and less work for you.

Can make individual posts if they are power names, teachers, etc. TAG costumers!!! If a customer writes a good testimonial, it's good to post it too, but just blur the kid's names, etc.
